This place has become overwhelmed by patients. Waiting times can be 7 hours. Dangerous if you are pregnant with issues. They are also very dismissive of symptoms- if you are trying to prevent premature birth, do not go here. I never post reviews but this has to be said as it can be a matter of life and death

Absolutely awful service. Min 45 min wait for appointments each time with no apology from staff in particular reception staff who just think it's the norm that patients should expect to wait for hours for free service . For some reason every single time I've been for appointments their computer systems are always down.

Wonderful staff. Everyone I met was smiley and really helpful. I went for a blood test, all the way from Gosport! When I arrived they called in number 21, I was number 51! One and a half hours later my blood was taken very well by a lovely gentleman and took just 4 minutes? They use a numbered card system, the electronic one on the wall was out of order. When people gave up waiting they would sometimes put their cards back in the box they had taken it from, causing much confusion? However I found out you can call up and choose an appointment and you will be seen almost on time, barring emergencies. That's a much better option. The lovely staff are let down by worn out systems?

My elderly, very ill, father (sadly now deceased...Sept 2017) was treated with great humanity, kindness and the very best of care by every single employee he encountered during his few days on the MAU in February 2017. You got him better to live to fight another day! Grateful thanks to you all.

My thanks to the staff in the A&E dept. I attended two days ago with a cut in my arm and, despite it being very busy, the two receptionists were so friendly and cheerful. All treatment was good, but Mikey Whale in the minor injuries was amazing. He was gentle, clear and kind and explained everything in detail as he treated me. Huge thank you!

My experience was very positive. We were triaged at A&E and seen by a Dr rather quickly. Tests were done and results were discussed with us in a professional manner. We were asked a couple of times by a nurse if we wanted refreshments and were given some. And were kept informed of progress until being discharged. Thank you so much everyone at A&E including the nurse who helped us while our daughter was sick on our way to the room.

I was sent to here to the stoke unit from Basingstoke. The care was exemplary. Professional, Friendly, Caring and Fast. And most importantly they took care to explain everything carefully so you did not feel like a piece of luggage. I can honestly say it's the most amazing NHS experience I have had. A friendly and happy place, but consummate professionals with it

Neighbourhood Midwives offer the most wonderful service that an expectant mother could wish for . When I engage them, I was engaging them to support me during giving birth . I was blown away by package of care. Their antenatal care was so nurturing. When it came to the day to give birth, I felt confident in myself and felt secure and safe with my team. Strangely I had not considered the importance of postnatal care, and this was what impressed me most. As an adult woman, I stand on my own 2 feet. To have someone caring and supporting me every step of my journey , through my pregnancy, at my birth, and then for a month that turned into 6 weeks, left me feeling strong and set up for the new chapter of life as a mother. When I gave birth to my first child we were very financially constrained, and going for private midwifery was a significant choice, but I feel that it was the best investment in my well being, and my baby’s well being. I have had 2 beautiful birth experiences at home supported every step of the way. Thank you !

Awful and unprofessional service. I went in for an emergency check up in the evening and had to wait for 4 long hours while sitting on a chair with no sympathy from staff. 24 weeks pregnant and suffering from bleeding and back pain. No support whatsoever or medical aid. They took a urine sample and was asked to wait in the waiting area. I was under so much stress not knowing if baby is ok or not. They were more keen to finish off paper work and admin work in the office rather than seeing and taking care of patients. Some pregnant women were given the luxury to wait in air conditioned rooms whereas they asked me to wait on a chair in the corridors. They almost forgot about me so I had to remind them every now and then that I was waiting outside. I have also suffered from a miscarriage in the past so there was a high risk of another miscarriage but they were absolutely careless and neglected me. When I asked why I was not provided the minimum care expected as everyone else, the midwife told me there were no beds available for me. I told her you could have informed me of the long wait for me to arrange visit to another emergency service but her answer was we are not getting anywhere with the conversation... it seems that they get away with mistreating and abusing patients. There was a lady who came before me she was given a bed and I was still waiting outside... they failed to do the basics. I have discharged myself after waiting for 4 hours. They did not even ask if I need painkillers to help me cope with my back pain. I went hospital at 8:30 pm and left hospital at 12 am without seeing a doctor. I discharged myself due to the increased back pain. This made me even more anxious and upset. They told me I have 2 patients ahead of me at 11:45 ?? So they still expected me to wait for another hour waiting. I will be making a formal complaint but will never return to this hospital again. I was maltreated and left hospital physically and emotionally distressed without seeing a doctor after waiting for 4 hours. Just appalling.

Delivered my baby at this hospital in June 2018. Very poor care, cold useless staff. Lazy and do minimal work. Do not listen to your needs and just keep walking off ignoring you. Delivered my baby without any help. Was left in a room with my husband calling for help in agony for over an hour. When someone finally took notice of the pain I was in I had already delivered the head.. This is just a small insight into what they put me through. I'm traumatized. Thank god myself and baby where ok, No thanks to them. I have made a formal complaint and have been told they are investigating. I will not let this go, as I feel they actually put myself and baby in danger. Whoever else has been in this situation I advise you to make a formal complaint. They can not get away with putting people they are supposed to be caring for at risk. I would Honestly NEVER even consider returning to this hospital.

I was unfortunate enough to be referred to the Gynaecology team in that place. Waited for 2.5 hrs without being given any updates on if there's a delay and how long it is. At all time there were 4-5 nurses at the reception drinking tea and having no concerns about the waiting patients. FINALLY I was called in.....by a lady which after asking me few somehow stupid questions admitted that she cannot really answer my question due to being a JUNIOR doctor......now the shocker...she has to call in her senior! And again I start with my diagnosis, treatment options etc to be asked why I don't try other options such as medication (which I've been on and is red flagged on my file due to extremely unpleasant effect) instead of invasive operation. To sum it up....NHS sucks and I cannot wait to be privatized.

My sister was induced into labour although the baby was not ready to come. She was in pain for hours before someone realised the baby was too high and ended up with cesarean. Poor care, unexperienced doctors and unprofessional staff.

Apart from epu unit and one specific doctor at labour ward and her team the rest do their duties as follows. Lost of blood results by antenatal under 16 weeks checks. While taking blood the lead nurse toke the bar code and promised that she will follow it from her own diary. Consultant at antenatal not checking urine or blood pressure which has resulted in urine infection found two days later in triage and just copying and pasting from triage records the old blood pressure data which were two or three days old. Most common comments used “very anxious couple” Consultant using fone while conducting the antenatal clinics and rushing ,to pick up her kid from School which is understandable but not at cost of some one else kid or health. I have reported it ward manager, and since that she has been taking it personal. She has sent the letter to local council child’s protection about the fathers behaviour, it was only when I have logged a complaint against her in chief executive office but I think the words were shared with her instead being independently reviewed so not trust worthy I do not know do I have to go GENERAL MEDICAL COUNCIL and report this consultant to them. Triage staff using NHS computer for shopping online, at night sleeping at patient beds and telling us over the phone there is long wait time not want you to bother her sleep while there was no one the ward. Upon arrival found her sleeping came to open door after few rings of wards With low movement at week 25 went there she put the CTG machine heard as week 35 luckily it was not harmful. Though the notes were handed over to her upon arrival, did not bothered to read or take note of what is state. Triage staff recording the result of 157 which show very high volumes as 15 which is very low confirmed by second visit from antenatal to triage,it was a very important test. Unnecessary induction was suggested at week 36 visit, which has resulted mental distraction on my wife and movement Reduction even before the suggested date caused really Painful delivery , At labour after losing 900 ml of blood the blood taken for test were lost at the machine taking blood from one ward to another for testing twice. The most important things is the post natal wards where all professional and knowledgeable midwives are assigned to paid rooms, I had only noticed it when my kids was discharged without the checking the jaundice or temperature, questioned that we were given a nurse from paid ward for two hours you could see the difference. The kid Had to stay two more days despite being discharged by the unprofessional nurse without checking anything. To support the above follow the BBC article where it has been claimed that maternity unit makes 400 errors daily.
