2012’s Top Pushchair for Urban Life

If you’re a city dweller, you’re going to need a pushchair that’s easy to manoeuvre through crowds, and not too large. You’ll probably want a chair that folds easily too, especially if you use public transport.

Some will prefer to steer clear of three wheelers, as these can sometimes create a feeling of slight instability when you need to rest the weight on the front wheel – when getting up a tricky curb for example.

Ultimately, life in the city can be stressful enough – you won’t want your pushchair to add any pressure…

So what have we chosen?

Who is it for?
Urbanite parents on the go

In a nutshell:
Storming in as Uppababy’s first urban-design pushchair, the Cruz is small and easy to store. Weighing in at just 9.3 kg, it feels light to push and is much easier to carry than a lot of other pushchairs – good news if you live in a city flat.

It folds with the seat attached and stands upright when folded. It also has the benefit of a massive storage tray, great for those walks back from the deli!

The seat can face either forwards or towards you, facilitating both bonding between you and baby and a growing interest in the outside world – and it’s very easy to adjust.

With ample hood coverage and an extendable sun shade, you’ll have a nice sense of protection for your little one, whatever the weather. An adjustable height handle and a simple step brake pedal make the Cruz a good choice for comfort too.

What does it cost?
£370 for the basic pushchair, and an extra £125 to buy the Cruz Carrycot. You can also buy Maxi-Cosi car seat compatible adapters at £33.

Any drawbacks?
The pushchair alone is suitable from 6 months only, so if you’re shopping for a newborn you’ll need to purchase the Cruz Carrycot. An added expense, but well worth it if the Cruz fits your lifestyle.
