Absolutely awful service. Min 45 min wait for appointments each time with no apology from staff in particular reception staff who just think it's the norm that patients should expect to wait for hours for free service . For some reason every single time I've been for appointments their computer systems are always down.

I have had 2 trips to A&E with my daughter in the past 2 weeks and the nursing staff have been amazing both times. They are so patient, put my child at ease and have been so kind. We have had a speedy and efficient process through A&E and do not have any complaints about the service at all. Thank you so much! Keep up the great work!

Just home from 4 week stay with serious knee infection. I have given 2 stars because almost all staff were kind, but grossly overworked under a system that was pretty chaotic. It should really have been 1 star. Clearly there is a chronic shortage of front line staff. Simple requests such as helping getting washed get brushed aside as nurses dive off to do other things. 'I'll be back in a minute' means nothing as an hour later one lies patiently waiting. I feel very sorry for the nurses struggling to cope. It was a real eye opener to me to see and suffer at first hand the deficiencies of our NHS.

I was under the care of Winchester Hospital's, Acute Care Unit, where I spent 48 hours in isolation, before moving on to the ward. From there I went to Clarke Ward, for a further 9 days, before moving to my final ward...Recovery. My treatments were first rate and the care, compassion and general commitment to my wellbeing...from EVERY member of staff...throughout my stay was astonishing. Our NHS is woefully underfunded and successive governments have done nothing to stem the flood of lost investment in it. But the cleaners, the auxiliary, the nurses, the staff nurses, the physiotherapists, the OT teams, the doctors and consultants are all working tirelessly to keep the service running. And I for one am truly grateful for their tireless dedication and work ethic. I am adding this update on 02/03/2017. Our wonderful NHS is drowning in management's mishandling. While nurses are struggling, upper management can be seen parking their top of the range, luxury motors!!! Our TV screens are full of advertising for our money. Donate £3.00pm for fresh water. Donate £3.00pm for warm blankets. Donate £5.00pm for donkeys!!! The list is endless and relentless. The NHS should be allowed to appeal for our money...and I for one would be VERY happy to donate...say £5.00pm or even £10.00...but if we all donated something, whatever we could afford, our NHS could be saved? But let's lose the wasteful and unnecessary upper management...I witnessed one, driving a £45000 high end European car...paid for from wages by the NHS...OUR NHS.

Recently brought in with severe stomach pain , after being poked and prodded by the rudest surgeon I have ever met I was put onto the gynaecology Ward near Florence portal house as they had no beds. It was the weekend and I did not see a single doctor all weekend as all too busy . Finally got taken for an ultrasound which showed my appendix was abnormal and I did infact have appendicitis. Was given antibiotics and after 2 days was told they wouldn’t be removing my appendix so I requested that someone did a laparoscopy to take it out as it would only flare up again . Was told a surgeon would come and speak to me . No body came, I was NIl By Mouth for 4 days at this point and felt so weak and dehydrated. The following morning I heard staff arguing about me at the nurses station in regards to my care . I then heard one of the doctors say ‘ I’m not dealing with it ‘ and walked off !! At this point I politely asked a nurse to remove my canula so I could leave . I lost all trust with the staff and genuinely felt my health was in jeopardy and nobody cared or wanted to look after me . I now have Bupa and within 2 weeks of contacting a consultant , after some quick tests removed my inflamed appendix and I received exceptional care at the Wessex Nuffield from start to Finish . They were shocked that my appendix hadn’t been removed previously given the state of it. This Hospital is a liability and because of the lack of care made me so poorly . My appendix was about to burst yet nobody seemed capable or even wanted to perform a standard Appendicectomy , instead fobbing me off with antibiotics and ignoring me for hours . It’s not acceptable and I have lost my confidence in this appalling Hospital.

Even though the maternity services where good enough the birth experience was the worst it can be. We were going for normal birth, dilated up to 6cm and the, apparently most stupid midwife in the world for 8 hours was saying "stop pushing baby, just breath your oxygen". We were asking for epidural to be done as soon as possible but no, they had their own plans. After already in contractions for 5 hours they decide to come in; being in unbelievable pain it takes around 30 minutes to get my wife ready and then their beeper beeps for an emergency and they leave us for another 3 hours waiting in total pain and the midwife saying every 3 minutes "don't push baby...". They finally changed shifts at 9am (we were there since 5pm) and the new ones decided that we go for emergency c-section. We just wanted the nightmare to finish. Just to mention the waters broke at 10pm so open for infections for 11 hours. The theater (surgery) was nothing like expected. Around 8 people around coming and leaving while my wife's internals where wide open. The door was opening every minute and someone new was coming or leaving and of course old school non-dissolvable sutures with needle. Even though everything seemed that went good enough we stayed in for 5 more days. No one came to check the baby for 3 whole days; gave pills and checks to my wife but no check on the baby. So our little one got a fever of 39 and only then they decided, after we ask them, to call for a doctor. The doctor said that we need to give antibiotics to the baby just in case it had sepsis. It seems that the baby was trying to breastfeed for 3 days and mother didn't had milk yet so sucking for so long made him sick. At the moment we fed him by bottle the fever dropped to normal but they kept giving to this little baby 3 more doses of antibiotics even though we asked not to. 9am of the 5th day they say we will get discharged so we asked to remove the needle from baby's hand. They are so slow that I went to ask again at 2:30pm to do that but the midwife was in lunch brake. A good lady finally came at 4:30. Of course it didn't end there. After we went back home we were told to expect a midwife the next day to remove the stitches. It appears the email left the hospital the next day (Saturday at 10:30am) so no one knew about our discharge and no one came. After many calls they decided to come on Sunday. To conclude. "Worst Birth Experience Ever". We went there after reading good reviews but something has changed and the management need to take real actions like discharge themselves. Personnel also needs better recruitment process.

My wife and I had our 20 week scan here. The staff are absolutely brilliant. The lady who gave the scan was personable, warm and caring. Made us feel very special. Can't rate them high enough. Thank you.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible I gave birth to my first child here. I had a very bad experience with my antenatal appointments: Several times they lost my blood results, very bad treat from some midwifes, but birth experience was a nightmare! The toilets in the ante natal room where I had to stay for 2 days due to there were no beds available, the toilets there were disgusting and with blood everywhere. But the worse was yet to come when after 15 hours labour, the doctor came to tell us that the midwife had calibrated wrong the heart machine and my baby's heartbeat was not recognized! My tear got infected and I think part was due to the poor hygienic conditions... They are overloaded and they treat you like chicken in a production line!

So far I am very impressed with the service in this hospital. Was waiting for about 6 weeks a letter from St Thomas and never arrived so decided to subscribe to have my baby at Queen's charlottes as recommended by my private midwife. Less than a week later had all my appointment letters for the following week. Today I had my first scan and the lady was so friendly, I felt as well treated as in a private scan I did previously. The lady took her time and was very helpful. The reception staff were so helpful too, they accommodated my requests about timing to take blood as I was late for a meeting and the lady that took my blood was so amazing that I didn't feel a thing. Thank you dear team, I feel very reassured so far to have my baby there.

Cannot fault the team of midwifes on the birth centre I had my 2nd baby here a few days and would definitely recommend having a baby at the birth centre. The antenatal midwifes are lovely also only downside was the scans I had the ladies who did both my scans were very impatient and didn't look like they wanted to be there but apart from that what a great hospital and birth centre. Aftercare team were also great.

I have had two children at Queen Charlotte's, my second one last week, and I would unhesitatingly recommend it. The staff are unfailingly kind, compassionate and professional. My first pregnancy was very complicated and risky. It was handled expertly, giving me complete confidence in my medical team. I chose to return for my second baby. She was thankfully less complicated but I still received a very high standard of care, including the obstetrician of my choice and exactly the birth plan I wanted. My interactions with other parts of the maternity service (midwife helpline, birth centre, maternity triage, etc) were all good. Four stars, not five, because the antenatal clinic is utterly chaotic. I saw a different midwife at every appointment and the appointments usually ran at least an hour late. The midwives were all excellent but I felt a lack of continuity of care and support. Overall, a very positive experience.

Outstanding; caring professionals. I have received the best care I could imagine on arrival of our son. The midwives in the centre were excellent and delivered our baby safely although the birth was not an easy one. Post natal care in the birth centre was excellent. Even after being discharged I could count on them and give a call to a birth centre to ask for an advice when needed. We are both very grateful to all staff of the birth centre.

I gave birth to my daughter here and it was high risk due to my heart condition. The actual delivery I feel the staff were attentive and empathetic but after for 5 days I was surrounded by cold nurses who neglected me so badly that I could have died of sepsis. I had an infected episiotomy that was extremely painful even with painkillers and I kept asking for it to be looked at and the nurses just kept saying it was fine and giving me ice packs. I couldn’t sit or stand for 5 days and the evening after we left my boyfriend had to take me to the A&e where they confirmed an infection just by looking at it. I called the maternity unit in the Queen Charlotte hospital I was in to tell them what happened and one of the nurses who was the only one that seemed empathetic (although she never suspected I had an infection) answered the phone and seemed genuinely sorry about what happened.

Our beloved son was born in Queens Charlotte Hospital. We have been lucky to have him delivered there, whole team of professional and super friendly doctors and specialists were taking care of my wife and our little boy. We would like to kindly thank everyone who helped us - starting from kind and helpful lady at the reception (I’m sorry I have forgotten your name) - blond lady in glasses :). Our midfives were angels!!! - Special thanks to Ene Obiabo!!! - thanks for all the stuff that we lerned from you and all the time you spend with patiently explining everything !! This hospital should be proud to have such a great team in there!!!! Highly recommended!!!
