Excellent continuity of care within familiar surroundings, and the ability to form significant relationships with your midwife team during this exciting but unsettling time are all essential for you to achieve the kind of birth that you want.

For more information about midwife-led care packages around the UK, please contact the different practices listed below, or fill out our contact form and we will forward your enquiry on your behalf. Prices and package offerings will vary, so it’s worth researching all of your options.

Can't say enough about how wonderful Virginia and Kay are. Would recommend them to anyone planning or expecting a baby. 5 star rating simply isn't enough, they need a sky full to come close.

With Virginia you have an expert; she is an oracle of knowledge and experience for pregnancy, birth and beyond. Virginia's book ‘The Baby’s Coming' is a must read for anyone interested in pregnancy and birth. She is an Independent Midwife and you can hire her to be your midwife all the way through your pregnancy and birth and afterwards for breastfeeding support and the like. I admire her so much.

Neighbourhood Midwives offer the most wonderful service that an expectant mother could wish for . When I engage them, I was engaging them to support me during giving birth . I was blown away by package of care. Their antenatal care was so nurturing. When it came to the day to give birth, I felt confident in myself and felt secure and safe with my team. Strangely I had not considered the importance of postnatal care, and this was what impressed me most. As an adult woman, I stand on my own 2 feet. To have someone caring and supporting me every step of my journey , through my pregnancy, at my birth, and then for a month that turned into 6 weeks, left me feeling strong and set up for the new chapter of life as a mother. When I gave birth to my first child we were very financially constrained, and going for private midwifery was a significant choice, but I feel that it was the best investment in my well being, and my baby’s well being. I have had 2 beautiful birth experiences at home supported every step of the way. Thank you !

I wanted a Harmony test, for my own peace of mind - Tami was able to come and visit me the next day, and was very friendly and professional, talking me through everything, and not minding my two children being curious as to what was going on. The results came through quickly, and Tami rang me to let me know before emailing them to me.

I used North Surrey Midwives for my second and third births. After a fairly grim first birth in hospital (textbook cascade of interventions, ending in a ventouse delivery), it was a massive relief to have down to earth, evidence based care. In practice this meant antenatal appointments in my own home, at a time to suit me, for as long as I needed; continuity of care from 8 weeks pregnant to 6 weeks post partum (and of course throughout labour and birth); and a birth plan to suit my individual needs - I achieved two home births at approx 41 weeks, which probably would not have been possible in a hospital setting owing to my geriatric age ;) Angela and Tami are lovely, friendly, reassuring people who also happen to be highly qualified and continue to develop their professional qualifications - it was a joy to have them on board with my babies!

Apart from epu unit and one specific doctor at labour ward and her team the rest do their duties as follows. Lost of blood results by antenatal under 16 weeks checks. While taking blood the lead nurse toke the bar code and promised that she will follow it from her own diary. Consultant at antenatal not checking urine or blood pressure which has resulted in urine infection found two days later in triage and just copying and pasting from triage records the old blood pressure data which were two or three days old. Most common comments used “very anxious couple” Consultant using fone while conducting the antenatal clinics and rushing ,to pick up her kid from School which is understandable but not at cost of some one else kid or health. I have reported it ward manager, and since that she has been taking it personal. She has sent the letter to local council child’s protection about the fathers behaviour, it was only when I have logged a complaint against her in chief executive office but I think the words were shared with her instead being independently reviewed so not trust worthy I do not know do I have to go GENERAL MEDICAL COUNCIL and report this consultant to them. Triage staff using NHS computer for shopping online, at night sleeping at patient beds and telling us over the phone there is long wait time not want you to bother her sleep while there was no one the ward. Upon arrival found her sleeping came to open door after few rings of wards With low movement at week 25 went there she put the CTG machine heard as week 35 luckily it was not harmful. Though the notes were handed over to her upon arrival, did not bothered to read or take note of what is state. Triage staff recording the result of 157 which show very high volumes as 15 which is very low confirmed by second visit from antenatal to triage,it was a very important test. Unnecessary induction was suggested at week 36 visit, which has resulted mental distraction on my wife and movement Reduction even before the suggested date caused really Painful delivery , At labour after losing 900 ml of blood the blood taken for test were lost at the machine taking blood from one ward to another for testing twice. The most important things is the post natal wards where all professional and knowledgeable midwives are assigned to paid rooms, I had only noticed it when my kids was discharged without the checking the jaundice or temperature, questioned that we were given a nurse from paid ward for two hours you could see the difference. The kid Had to stay two more days despite being discharged by the unprofessional nurse without checking anything. To support the above follow the BBC article where it has been claimed that maternity unit makes 400 errors daily.

Outstanding; caring professionals. I have received the best care I could imagine on arrival of our son. The midwives in the centre were excellent and delivered our baby safely although the birth was not an easy one. Post natal care in the birth centre was excellent. Even after being discharged I could count on them and give a call to a birth centre to ask for an advice when needed. We are both very grateful to all staff of the birth centre.

I have had two children at Queen Charlotte's, my second one last week, and I would unhesitatingly recommend it. The staff are unfailingly kind, compassionate and professional. My first pregnancy was very complicated and risky. It was handled expertly, giving me complete confidence in my medical team. I chose to return for my second baby. She was thankfully less complicated but I still received a very high standard of care, including the obstetrician of my choice and exactly the birth plan I wanted. My interactions with other parts of the maternity service (midwife helpline, birth centre, maternity triage, etc) were all good. Four stars, not five, because the antenatal clinic is utterly chaotic. I saw a different midwife at every appointment and the appointments usually ran at least an hour late. The midwives were all excellent but I felt a lack of continuity of care and support. Overall, a very positive experience.

Very disappointed for having hired Odette. We spent about 4.5k for having 3 antenatal visits which were fine (my wife felt they were mainly usefull to get to know the person who is going to be at your side during labour) and a labour support which we found totally useless. In fact it was via whatsup and phone calls during most of the labour (ie, the whole preliminary phase and the first few hours of the "established" phase - to give an idea, we were given one-to-one midwife from NHS about 9hrs before Odette thought appropriate to turn up at the hospital! looking backwards, I could find 1000 better ways to spend that amount of money for my wife and child than this. Will definitely stay away from her in any future pregnancy.

As a mother of 3 and a practising Hypnobirthing practitioner. Odette helped me to achieve the home birth of my dreams for my 3rd child! I highly recommend her services. You will not find anybody as highly skilled, knowledgeable and lovely as Odette is. With also teaching courses myself in Hampstead, I wanted to find a local midwife I could recommend to my clients and Odette is the only midwife that I trust. Every single one of my clients have been extremely happy with her services, enabling them to have natural births that have also been memorable. You will not be disappointed!

I went into the Birth Company for a harmony scan and am so glad I did, the whole experience was great. When I called to ask about the test, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful and immediately put me at ease. Booking the appointment was very fast and comprehensive too, great customer service all around. Dr Gibb was excellent - professional, explained everything thoroughly, and had a great bedside manner. The location is great and the facilities were very nice - bright, comfortable and relaxed. Receiving the results from my test was again a great experience, very thorough and considerate too. I would refer anyone to come here and if I need to in the future will definitely visit again.

Such lovely ladies at reception greeted us with smiles. I was so nervous but there’s a reassuring atmosphere there and they are kind and gentle. Super professional but also personable. Would highly recommend this place and we have been to several other similar clinics and this is definitely the nicest.

I have had 2 scans at The Birth Company and cannot recommend them highly enough. Each time, the Sonographer's have been friendly and talked us through every detail of what they and we were seeing. They really take the time to capture great stills and videos. The service and care they provide is priceless.

As a patient coordinator at FIVMarbella we receive many patients from the UK and highly recommend The Birth Company to all those that can get to one of their clinics for the lining scan. Could not rate the Birth company more highly. Kate made the experience incredible and her friendly, preofessional approach is just what is needed. We had a panaorma test. Having had many miscarriages she knew the extra level of reassurance and detail we needed. We used another service in the past, who charge more, but would not hesitate to rate these guys higher. The reaults came very quickly too.

Excellent customer service. Staff are professional and very helpful. They do care about the patients. I visited emergency once during pregnancy and once after - was interviewed by the same man - he was very helpful, seeing I have little baby with me asked me to wait in separated area not to expose the baby to all the germs in main waiting room. I also gave birth in this hospital and care I received in birthing centre then labour ward, following Simpson unit and postnatal was just the highest standard. I had complications during the labour but they made me feel safe and decreased my suffering to the very minimum. My husband was treated on several occasions in London's best private clinics but C&W was even better. I was very well looked after. Thank you all at C&W.

Chair of Finance. I rent a room from Jacqui Wilkinson who is head of finance for Chelsea and Westminster hospital as well as councilor for Warwick ward, Westminster . I've lived there just over 2 months. She has taken 6 months rent from me and a bond. I cannot sleep at night because I can hear the trains 24 hours a day. The noise pollution team have said has a statutory duty to put an acoustic sound proof window in which only costs £600. She has had almost £7,000 from me. She has been rude, aggressive, obstructive and lacking any empathy. If I had known I was renting from a Conservative councilor I would never have moved in. There are no Conservative MPS in Wales. Greed is not good and society does exist. Do not vote for this woman.

Yesterday I cut myself badly enough to warrant a trip to A & E. There was a bit of a wait, as it was VERY busy for the day and time (but I was just happy to have an A & E that was open and well run!). However, all staff were friendly, helpful and professional and the waiting room itself was clean, modern, airy and comfortable. The young Dr that helped me was wonderful! He was cheery, confident and very kind. He patched me up and filled me with confidence that things would be fine. Well done him and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital!

On the first day of a 2 week trip to England I ended up in Urgent Care of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital with my 82 year old mother. She had taken a bad fall and needed to be examined and treated before we could continue our travels. The nurses, doctors and x-ray techs were friendly, knowledgeable and caring. They provided expedient and top notch care. When the other travelers in our group asked about our experience with NHS I let them all know that the services we received at this hospital was as good as, if not better and more timely, than what I have experienced in similar circumstances at home in the USA.

Our son was born here, and I would not have had him born anywhere else. This I by far the best NHS hospital I every attended. The birth centre staff are amazing and everyone in the maternity team is wonderful. Has all you need in the building, including plenty of shops and stores along with a pharmacy.

It was the worst experience in approach to private patients that I’ve eve faced in my life. We were waiting 4,5 hours with 2 years old child for surgery. My son was not allowed to eat and drink from 6.30 am and we spent almost 5 hours just waiting for somebody to come although the operation time was arranged at 1pm. So, we stayed with him without any care and drinking and eating for whole day....... and after all we payed more than 2000£ staying in this hospital

Some consultants are great here however the hospital is not great, lack of communication between staff and departments results in a child not receiving adequate care. Find a better hospital. I am currently struggling with my son’s MRI as even the PA to the CEO does not respond! Any hospital must go that extra mile when dealing with a child, this is definitely not the case at this hospital

Very disappointed with the lack of clarity and communication and in fact lack of empathy as well. There are hidden fees at every corner. I had my baby there as my NHS hospital had run out of free space and was left scrambling to find a private hospital. We kept getting bill after bill and paid double than what we had been initially quoted. Went for a natural delivery with no epidural but was forced to pay for the anesthesiologist to be on call even though I specifically mentioned I didn’t want any drugs. Everything went well didn’t need the epidural but ended up having to pay over £600 for the anesthesiologist anyway. Some of the staff are very competent but others are down right aggressive and border line disrespectful. I’ve had to take my son for a scan there and was so shocked by the lack of empathy and care from the MRI technicians I will not be going back. The level of care there is much worst than with the NHS and you end up paying an arm and a leg for it with the finance department hounding you down even if payments are coming from insurance and have been covered.

It is a far cry from what a private hospital should be like. They forgot they are private and we paid for our newborn son to be treated there. We have filed a complaint with the management team but NO ONE bothered to respond. We got an email saying it was their mistake but it didn’t include a single apology. They think they are above the law. I find it a dangerous place where they first try to put the blame on you, for a mistake they made. Happily launched into legal action threats and bullying, even when we had a proof the mistake was on their part. When it was finished and they finally acknowledged that we were right all along, none of the people who harassed us said “sorry”. They treated us with so much incompetence and disrespect. I would never trust them with my son’s life. If you think you will be better off here than anywhere else - think twice. This is horribly run place.
